I think that's a great idea, so selfless. I'd love the thought that something I knit would be so precious and needed by someone. A hundred seems out of my range so maybe ten scarves but it's defiantly going on my list. It's a perfect project for all the yarn I've bought one or two skeins of and have no plans for.

Very easy to learn to knit scarves and there are oodles of terrific You-Tube videos that make it much easier.
