After receiving a large sum of money I decided the best way to spend it was completing one of my biggest dreams - to backpack through Europe in my younger years. I flew from the Toronto Pearson International Airport to the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome Italy to start my journey. From there I back packed through Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice and part of Paris by myself and the rest of Paris, Amsterdam, London and Dublin with my good friend Amanda. My trip went from August 9th, 2015 to September 1st 2015 when I flew home from the Dublin Airport back to Toronto. The trip was a life changing experience allowing me to see so many things I had always dreamed of. I met so many amazing people. Although I was very home sick from missing my friends and family I wouldn't have done anything differently.

During my semester abroad in England.. we had a month (January) to travel before finals and heading home to the states. So we hit the road (and train and subway) to Europe and visited 5 more countries in a month!!! Stayed in hostels, used my giant backpack, Nalgene bottle, blanket, passport hider, everything you could imagine at the time... and did it! What I would give for another chance at doing this, but I'm so lucky I got to then! (end of Dec 1999-January 2000)

Classic post-college trek, living in hostels, out of my backpack for months on end. Living large in a small way, discovering the world.

I had a once in a lifetime six-week trip with my best friend throughout western Europe in 2008. We were both only 20 years old at the time. Five years later, it still seems to come up in random conversations. During our trip, I learned a lot about myself and the world around me.

This was amazing. While I am not 100% sure this is everyone's definition of "backpacking", I lived out of a backpack for a week traveling from Rome to Naples to Palermo to Venice in Italy. It was an amazing experience and a terrifying and difficult experience but I am definitely better for it!
