Completed the Tri-Mayberry in April 2013! I really enjoyed the training and the race itself. I will definitely be going for another race this year, though probably an olympic-distance one this time!

I was 14 years old when I completed my 1st (and only) triathlon. I completed it with my mom, and it was a great bonding experience for both of us. I complained for most of it because the water was too cold, I had a flat tire and later fell off my bike. The only area I felt good about was the run. Because I am a better runner than my mom I crossed the finish line before her, which made her mad because I was the one holding her back for the rest of the tri.

When I was in 5th grade going into 6th, my school, every year, would hold a triathlon for everyone going into middle school or in middle school, going into high school or in high school. During that time, I would take swimming lessons on the Saturday after Chinese school so for the swimming part I aced it, the first one to touch the end. The biking part was harder though, we were supposed to either use our own bike to use or one of the school's mountain bikes. Unlike the swimming, the biking wasn't planned it was "first come first serve", whoever got there first biked first. The running was the hardest part. You had to run along the field of our town's high school. Once I finally made it to the finish line I ran through it and was awarded a medal and a picture with our middle school's principal.

Triathlons are very tiring, but all the effort and hard work you put into one is worth it once you cross that finish line and get the metal for memories. I only did the kids triathlon but it was still harder.
