Took a road trip from Wisconsin out to California.  Wen through Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa on the trip.  Drove aprox.  5,600 miles in 8 days.  Ended up driving down the coastal highway.  An amazing trip altogether.

After graduating from a school in BC last spring my parents and I drove the Pacific Coast Highway. It was absolutely incredible and I can't wait to do it again! I would recommend this to anyone, the views are stunning.

On our way back from San Francisco the hubby and I took a detour through the famous Pacific Coast Highway. It was a chilly summer morning. It took us 10 hours to get back to Los Angeles, but it was so worth it. So much beauty... specifically up in Big Sur. We'd really like to go back and camp out by next spring.

Just got back from a week long trip in California! Drove the Pacific Coast Highway from San Fransico to Los Angeles. It was beautiful! Spent a few days in San Franscico - did Chinatown, Fisherman's Warf, saw the Pink Ladies, rode the trolley, hiked Muir Woods, shopped in Sausalito, at at Bridges restaurant in Danville (where they filmed Mrs. Doubtfire), saw Berkeley, and more! We didn't have time to do a tour of Alcatraz though, so I would definitely add more time to your trip if you're planning on doing it all like I did. We then went to see some family is Sunnyvale and saw the Google campus and Stanford in Palo Alto on the way. They didn't have tours or anything but it was still kind of neat to see. Then we drove to Monterrey. We went to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, which I thought would be a lot cooler, but I actually prefer the Shed Aquarium. We had breakfast overlooking the ocean and walked on the beach and stacked stones for good luck. Then we started the 17 mile drive, stopping along the way. It was so pretty! We stopped to have lunch at Pebble Beach Golf Course - incredible views, although pretty pricey, and continued our journey. Carmel was beautiful and the houses were so cool I had a hard time picking which side of the car I should look out. We stopped to see the Hearst Castle which was very neat and then ended up staying in Santa Barbara and saw UCSanta Barbara. Then we drove down through Malibu and saw the Pepperdine campus. The drive through the mountains to Malibu was very pretty. From there we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica. We saw UCLA, Hollywood, Bel Air, Rodeo Drive, a Beverly Hills and Venice Beach. Then we went further down and stayed in New Port Beach. It was very pretty there, but what I really liked was walking around Balboa Penninsula. Overall it was so amazing and such a great drive! I would have like to have an extra week to stay longer in each place.

Did this during my honeymoon in '08. So pretty, but I probably should have been driving.

Since I grew up in Morro Bay and went to college at UC Santa Cruz, I drove up and down the PCH many times - by car, by VW bus, even hitch-hiked it a few times. Every trip was more beautiful than the last.

Used to drive 10 miles each way to work down PCH while living in Huntington Beach. Sunrise is gorgeous!
