When I drove up to McDonald's to pick up my chidren from work, there was a man sleeping in the bushes at the edge of the parking lot. My first impulse was to call the police so they could deal with him. Then I thought, "Why?". I gathered all the change I had, walked over to him and asked if he was o'kay. Yes. What did I need? Nothing. Would he like some money to get food? Yes. Bless you ma'am. He then took a small roadside flower out of his back pack to given to me. He did not head to the liquor store across the street as I thought he might.
It was late one rainy night and I had just come out of Quicktrip when I saw a man and his dog sitting by the building trying to stay warm and dry. When I got closer to them I decided to ask them if they needed many food and the man kindly denied the food offer saying that he was good on food, that he only needed some money to get a room to stay in for the night. So about an hour prior I had made about $40 in cash as a waitress and I asked him if $20 was going to be ok and he said that, that was $3 more than he needed, so I gave him the $20 and he was extremely grateful and he spent the night warm and dry.
Have done this many times for homeless people but could and should really do more.
It was international peace day and my heart just went for it.
You gave it to the homeless man freshman year who you discovered since actually pan handles for a living and frequents the nearby Starbucks.
Gave money to a homeless person outside Kwan & Wok in Phoenix, Arizona. He was extremely grateful. Definitely a great experience.
I gave money to a couple of people, but then, as I was coming out from the theater, there was that man and it was pretty cold outside. I went back in the theater, buy a medium-size hot chocolate with a 20 timbits box and gave it to him. His face was something I will never forget. How happy he was when he saw the hot beverage and the timbits. Something I gotta re-do again for sure.
This I did many times over. There are so many folks who have nothing. I don't care what they do with the money but if I have it I will give what I can to them. You never know what has happened in a person's life to bring them to the level of not having ahome. I do not judge but I help.
