The first time I ever learned the technique of sailing was on a GOOB trip freshman year of college on Lake Coeur D'Alene, ID.

But I truly learned how to sail while I was a camp counselor. I was trained in May 2014 so that I could teach the sailing class at camp! I loved it and loved when the campers understood how to sail and would go out and come back without tipping over! My first time sailing, me and my partner capsized 3 times! It was a hoot! The jetski guys had to rescue us haha!

The first time I sailed I was a young boy and a good friend of mines father was a Navy Officer who loved to sail, and took us out and taught us the basics. years later working on South Molle Island in the Whitsundays I thought i would show my friend how much I knew about sailing. we went out in a Hobbie Cat and we were sailing well until I decided to Tac into the wind....next thing you know we were blown onto the jetty. Attached is a  photo of me trying to swim us off the pier with the sail down and my friend laughing so much he could hardly hold the camera still. Another photo is aboard the yacht called Apollo which was a Sydney to Hobart Yacht race winner. We just crewed it for the day for fun.

October 2016, I am back into sailing and actually learning how to sail properly. I am under the tutelage of the ex navy officer once again, and this time doing things correctly. I have added some photos from my last outing.

Completed the Basic Sail Training (BST) at USNA.  Skipper B qualified to check out the Navy 26s anytime I want to go out into the Severn. Awesome experience!

We used to have a sailing boat when I was a kid and I always loved the wind in my face. When I was old enough I decided to get a sailing license, so I would not lose this exciting hobby.

I took a sailing class the spring semester of my freshman year in college. It was so much fun!!! The biggest challenge was getting over my fear of flipping the boat, but once I got over that fear, I had a blast!

Took a 2 hour lesson at Annapolis sailing school. Wind could've been better, but it was fun! Looking forward to doing it again.

Terrified at first, but continued on for another 5-6 years. Afterwards, I even tried windsurfing.
