I went panning for gold at the Consolidated Gold Mines in Dahlonega, GA. I also went on a tour into the gold mine. Gold was first discovered in this area in GA in 1828, years before the California gold rush. I found six or seven small flakes of gold and learned a lot of history of the area.

When I was living in Montana I went to a school where my class only had 20 students. We took a trip to Helena and visited a museum of the old west. We all got to pan for gold and keep whatever we found. I really didnt find anything but it was still fun![email protected]/3657335124/

I've done this 2 or 3 times, and it is very fun, even though I didn't find much.  The gold is so small that it is hard to capture, and can get tiring after a while, so I'd recommend doing this activity with friends around.

When I was visiting my aunt and uncle in Colorado I practically begged to do this lol. We all had the time, we took quite a long drive, my altitude sickness was terrible, BUT we panned for gold :) Didn't find a damn thing though haha.
