Rode a hot air balloon in the Africa and then again in Taos, NM
From our ballooning toast in Taos, NM: "The winds have welcomed you with softness. The sun has blessed you with its warm hands. You have flown so high and so well, that God has joined you in your laughter, and set you gently back again into the loving arms of Mother Earth."
Clay and I went, maybe it was for an anniversary or something, but it was before we had kids. It's not at all like you see in the movies and is really overrated. It was loud, as they kept the fire going to keep us up. It was too loud to talk or really enjoy company. And it was not super comfortable, small spaces with other guests. I guess I'm glad I've done it, but wouldn't do it again.
Hot air ballooning is supposed to be one of those terribly romantic things that you do with your beloved, however given the lack of suitable men in my life, I took my sister. So it wasnt particularly romantic. In fact, hanging around in a basket with 10 other people isnt really my idea of romantic even if some hot guy was involved...
The balloon ride itself was pretty cool - the feeling of being suspended in mid air was amazing. And the views of Canberra were pretty great too.
I would highly recommend it as a not particularly adrenalin-filled, but certainly pretty awesome experiences that I will remember for a long time to come.
Sophie and I met up with Jane, Chloe and Ruben, and Tristen.
Beautiful, chrisp sunny morning. No wind. We could see for miles.
Took off and landed in Sturminster Newton playing fields.
Fabulous day! I would reccomend it to anyone!

It was a birthday present I flew over Bath in the UK to Bristol. It was amazing, I just wish I had gone with someone else to enjoy it.
Hot Air Ballooning was incredible! I went up with my partner in gorgeous Byron Bay at sunrise. The winds took us over the hinterland, which was indescribably incredible due to all the mist and rays peeking through the forest, cattle waking up and all the tree top views.
It was even more amazing because when you close your eyes, you could be standing on the ground; everything was so peaceful, the wind so gentle, all you could hear were the creaks of the basket and the occasional burst of flame. I'm terrified of heights and I wasn't scared at all - an amusing part of the trip was the basket. All padded with felt with leather handles, enough to fit in 10 people... in one of the small ones!Byron Bay Ballooning is definitely recommended.
