With my family, I took an Ocean Rafting trip out to the Whitsunday Islands near the reef. With our tour guide, a brilliant and hysterical man named Will, we dove into various reefs of coral. Under the water was unlike what I had expected. It was dark, and so different. But the corals and the fish still shone out in the blackness in a luminescent hurricane of colors. I have never experienced anything like it in my life.
Charlie and I met on a study abroad trip to Australia and New Zealand in 2007. One day near the end of the trip, we took a boat trip out on the Great Barrier Reef and had the opportunity to snorkel and/or SCUBA dive. Charlie was already SCUBA certified and enjoyed the diving! I was not certified but did a discover SCUBA course. Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience.
possibly one of my greatest teenage memories. My friend Jack and I, along with family stationed at a private island of 100 people off the coast of cairns. Here, we played football on the white beach and then dived into the ocean with our snorkels. After learning the basics from the guided snorkely tour, we took off and did our own thing - from diving down and swimming with clown and parrot fish between vibrant coral to casting shadows over clams opening them up in a bubbling demonstration. The day was topped off with swim and riding the back of large pacific turtle until it swam to depths unreachable. All topped up with the beauty of a sunrise reflecting on tropical waters.
2011 Went to Australia to visit Jordan at school. Went surfing, to several beaches, underground clubbing on my birthday, and a lot of exploring! Wish I could live there
Beautiful! (A shame that I don't like snorkling too much!)
More like wading than swimming, thanks to sharks and fish!
2004 P2P TRIP <3
I spent a month in Australia, I visited to Hamilton Island for a week and traveled down the gold coast for the rest of the time. I dived 8 times out there and I've never seen water so clear and warm. I dived with barracudas, white tip reef sharks, wobbegong sharks, Maori wrasse and some of most vibrant fish i'd seen. It made England's waters look very dull, the most exciting things i'd seen were dogfish.
