Jules ...'s Goal

This was actually my sister's bucketlist goal but I was caught into doing it. After doing an errand or two we had a meeting with Monica at the museum. And although we showed up early she allowed us to come upstairs where she gave us an introduction to the archives that we were interested in.

I started off looking at the Davis Cemetery and the Eudora Jewish Cemetery. The first answered some questions I had when I had visited while the second one was new to me and so I also learned a bunch more than I originally would have done so.

At the same time Jo started on the obits and then went onto the mortuary books. The mortuary books were fascinating and each cause of death although some seemed ridiculous told a story about the person that was on the page as well as a story of their times and life.

We spent three hours in there learning, researching and looking up for the sake of being able to study. I found a cemetery location of one that I had been trying to pinpoint, we found about Jewish customs, a friend's obit from the 4th grade, that something fishy was going on at Haskell and that there was a Spanish Influenza plague between the KU student soldiers in Oct 1918. So much stories and so little time.
