So for the first time ever I really got a chance to visit IA. The last time I had been by was basically grazing the tip by train while it was gone before you even knew you were there.

Anyway I have to say I have fallen in love with the beauty of the state. The bright rich greenness, the farmlands snuggled up with woods, the abundance of water and the gorgeous wildflowers that seem to be everywhere. Although certain colors seem to blanket the ground more so than in other areas it is just amazing at their plentitude.

I really wanted to explore these plants, which are protected from spraying and mowing on the road sides, but we had a wedding to get to. And it seemed like every time we passed another inch of ground there was another splash of color to catch my eye.

As we ready for sleep last night I asked my husband if he would mind me getting up to take a walk and he agreed. Fortunately I was able to talk to him in coming with me while we started at the cornfields across the road then moved back around the back of Applebee's to get the beautiful plains coreopsis.

As we walked we also enjoyed watching the sunrise that was happening just across the street from us. It wasn't a big adventure nor one where we knew the name of everything that caught our eye but it was a chance to enjoy one of nature's greatest beauty pageants that I have seen up until now.
