My dad's side of the family owns mountain property up in the Rockies and ever since I can remember we have spent many a good summer there. Most of the time we would pack things in, set camp up and then once things were settled were given a chance to have free range of the campsite when we weren't doing family hikes up the mountain.
My favorite spot always was a giant moss-covered rock that was far enough away that you couldn't see the camp. Often times I would climb up on that rock of mine and just enjoy being there in nature, seeing the scarce scenery of the mountains and just enjoying being out there alone.
Other things that we would do would be to collect rocks since of the amount of fools' gold, explore all around us and before we left we were required to shoot off a gun even when we didn't want to. And that critter could kick!
