I went to Turkey with my sister in July 2011 and at the spa at our hotel we got to have an authentic Turkish bath.
We were taken to this beautiful marble room with a big marble slab/block in the middle and had to lie down on it in our bikinis. I was a little apprehensive at first when two topless men walked in with towels wrapped around their waists (turned out they were wearing proper shorts underneath) but they were so professional and I soon relaxed.
First they used a scrub mit to get rid of all the dead skin and then (this was the best part) they created thousands of bubbles (some how by scraping them off towels) and just covered us in them before massaging them in. It was like being in a massive bubble bath!
After that they washed them all off using bowls of warm water and then we got to go and have a facial mud pack and turkish tea which was delicious before another massage.
The whole experience was sooo relaxing and I’m so glad I had it done, would have gone back for another but once you’ve started working on your tan it’s not a good idea as you would have it all scrubbed off again!
