Mind you, I rarely paint and I'm usually just messing around. But every now and then it is my favorite outlet. Originally, the previous owner of my master bedroom had goldenrod yellow walls. I decided to alter one wall and make it look like parchment music paper and chose a piece that I could never tire of hearing and one that has brought me to tears during almost every performance of it: the first movement of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D, Op. 35. The particular part that I painted was the variations on the main theme. It wasn't perfect - the longer I spent on the mural, the bigger my notes got, and I didn't realize spacing issues with the large leaps in chords...some really high notes overlapped with low notes on the staff above it. Oh well. I had no regrets in painting it and I loved falling asleep by it. I'm hoping that the mural will stay for years to come once I've moved out.
