When I was 12 years old my dad took my brother and me to the Himalayas in Nepal to hike. We met some of the nicest people we have ever met and built great relationships with many. The poverty found up in those mountains was heartbreaking to see. On one occasion, a woman with us gave a child, covered in dirt and completely naked, a piece of candy. The child's face lit up immediately upon tasting the candy. It was probably the first candy he had ever eaten and was shocked by the wonderful taste. The immense beauty in those mountains was something I had never seen before except for in National Geographic magazines. It was an EXTREMELY hard hike, especially for me as a 12 year old. The experience was definitely life changing and I would recommend it to anyone considering going.
