On my third high adventure with my Boy Scout troop I attended Florida Sea Base. We flew down on Saturday and because of terrible traffic on Highway 1 did not arrive at the base until it was dark. We did our swim tests in the pool and practiced snorkeling with our gear on. The next day we got on a 50 foot sailboat and headed off. We weren't able to go out into the ocean, where I desperately wanted to catch a Mahi-Mahi, because of rough seas so we stayed on the bay side. It was still beautiful. The weather was great, we had a good wind to drive our sails, the water was clear, it was just great. Over the next five days we snorkeled and fished. We saw pufferfish, parrotfish, countless barracuda, angelfish, and all sorts of coral formations. We even caught two lobster and three crabs while snorkeling but the crabs weren't in season and the lobster were too small. While we fished we caught over 60 fish. This consisted of grunt, barracuda, jack, saltwater catfish, cowfish, pompano, nurse sharks, lizard fish, bonito, and more! It was one of the best experiences in my life. I spent it with nice and fun people doing what I love.
