I was calm, until the actual moment came to literally dive into the sky. I hesitated long enough that the tandem instructor sort of pushed me out of the plane. The first few moments were terrifying because I truly believed that I was going to die. Then I realised: since I am going to die, I had better enjoy these last few moments of my life! So I surrendered to the experience - soaring above Table Mountain and the Two Oceans, weightless and free. I deployed the parachute and laughed as we twirled like birds in the sun. Too soon, the ground called me home. I paused to look up at the infinite blue sky. I gave thanks for this experience and the incredible gift of more life ahead of me.
